Around 2012, wow that long ago, I was getting a little fed up of hearing about Christmas and Easter activities from nursery so decided to create a Vaisakhi Treasure Hunt for her. Every year I have ensured that we do the hunt and all the children love it. I have even done it for Khalsa Clubs! It was only right to share this with the sangat to enjoy. When the children were little, we did the hunt inside the house or within the Gurdwara. You can see the video’s on our channels. As they got older I moved it to the park, forest and even got our neighbours involved, using their homes and front gardens!

Have a go and enjoy the activity as a family!

Here is a basic presentation on Vaisakhi. I have tried to share what Vaisakhi is and what it is not!

Hope you find it useful. Click the image to download.

How much do we decorate our homes for Christmas? We have to take responsibility for the level in which the children understand the important dates within the Sikh calendar. If we are not putting in 100%, then we cannot complain when they do not feel connected to Sikhi… Vaisakhi, Gurpurab. It is not something that is just once a year, it is a conversation that is continuous everyday. Sikhi is the air they breath, the step they take and a part of their thoughts.
Try erecting a nishaan Sahib at home… better still, try making it with them!

Enjoy sikhi as a family – they will be memories to cherish!
